About the Institute
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University, Bangladesh (BSMRMU) is the first maritime or maritime specialized government university of Bangladesh established in 2013. Located in Mirpur Pallabi, Dhaka, this institution is at a unique height in the study of maritime economics, maritime safety and oceanography. The modern architectural style and aesthetic environment of this campus of about 10 acres inspires students to pursue knowledge. The main gate and administrative building of the university are a wonderful example of its modernity.
Currently, the university is conducting international standard teaching programs in the semester system. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in various subjects including oceanography, naval architecture, maritime law, port management and maritime economics. There are opportunities for hands-on research under the supervision of experienced teachers and researchers, which makes students competitive in the global workplace. The distance of this institution from the main city of Kurigram is more than 350 kilometers. It usually takes 8 to 10 hours to reach Dhaka from Kurigram by road. This campus located in Mirpur Pallavi can be easily reached from any part of Dhaka city through public transport or ride sharing services. The university's own transport system has also made the travel of students easier.
