Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP)

Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) is a public university established on 5 June 2008, located in Mirpur Cantonment, Dhaka. Spread over an area of about 70 acres, this campus is known for its orderly environment and aesthetic architecture. Starting from the main gate of the university, its modern library, spacious playgrounds and well-equipped academic buildings attract the attention of visitors. Although it is mainly run under the supervision of the armed forces, it has established itself as a unique center of higher education for general students. Currently, BUP teaches in a modern and up-to-date manner, where special emphasis is given to practical skills along with theoretical knowledge. Various undergraduate and postgraduate programs are being run here under the faculties of Arts, Social Sciences, Business Studies, Science and Technology and Security and Strategic Studies. Through the semester-based credit system and industry-academia linkage, students are prepared to face the challenges of the real workplace. In addition, there are advanced laboratories and digital resource centers for research. The distance from Kurigram district town to BUP is more than 350 kilometers. Road is the main means of transportation from Kurigram to Dhaka; one can reach Dhaka directly by buses like Hanif, SI or ENA Paribahan. It is also convenient to take the Kurigram Express train to Dhaka Kamalapur Station and travel from there to Mirpur Cantonment. After reaching Dhaka city, it is possible to easily reach the BUP campus through public transport or ride sharing services. His Excellency the President serves as the Chancellor of BUP. Many prominent military and civilian personalities of the country are directly associated with this institution. Many renowned educationists and military officers have served as the Vice-Chancellors of the university. In addition, at different times, the country's leading policymakers, researchers and successful entrepreneurs participate in lectures and seminars here as guest teachers, which serves as a source of inspiration for students.
