Debiganj Govt. College

Located in the heart of Debiganj Upazila of Panchagarh district, 'Debiganj Government College' is known as the beacon of higher education in the region.

This college was established in 1972 with the dedicated efforts of local educationists and eminent personalities. This school in Debiganj Upazila on the banks of the Karatoya River is spread over an area of about 6 acres. After going through various ups and downs in its long journey, the college gained government status in 1984. Recently, there has been a very positive discussion at the local level about the infrastructural development of the college and the improvement of the quality of education, which has created new enthusiasm among the students. In terms of academic activities, the college has been conducting teaching at the higher secondary, undergraduate (pass) and undergraduate (honors) levels. Honors courses are available here in various subjects including Bengali, English, political science, history and philosophy. At present, efforts are being made to make teaching more lively through the use of digital technology. Regular classes, tutorial examinations and co-curricular activities are conducted here under the supervision of experienced and skilled teachers. However, the late Sirajul Islam, the organizer of the great Liberation War and a renowned politician, is particularly noteworthy. He played an important role in the development of this college since its inception. Due to the visionary thinking and contributions of personalities like him, Debiganj Government College has been able to establish itself as one of the best schools in North Bengal today.
