About the Institute
M Abdur Rahim Medical College, Dinajpur (formerly Dinajpur Medical College) was established in 1992. It is a renowned government medical educational institution located on the outskirts of Dinajpur city. Spread over a vast area of about 42 acres, this campus has modern academic buildings, well-equipped libraries, laboratories and residential hostels for students. The institution is named after M Abdur Rahim, one of the organizers of the great liberation war, which is known as a unique milestone in the medical service of North Bengal.
Currently, MBBS courses are taught here in a modern and up-to-date manner. Special emphasis is given to hands-on clinical training along with theoretical classes under the supervision of experienced professors and doctors. The 500-bed hospital attached to the college is the mainstay of healthcare for the people of this region. The skills of the students are enhanced through regular seminars, workshops and research activities, which help them develop into skilled doctors.
The distance of this institution from the main city of Kurigram is about 100 kilometers. It can be reached by bus or private transport by road and it usually takes two and a half to three hours. It is possible to reach the campus very easily from Dinajpur city by rickshaw or auto-rickshaw. Many of the alumni of this institution are currently working in the medical profession with great reputation in the country and abroad, who are increasing the glory of the institution at the national and international levels.
