Eden Mohila College

Eden Women's College is a bright and traditional name in the history of women's education in Bangladesh.

Founded in 1873 by the then Brahmo Samaj reformer Aghor Kamini Devi, this institution initially started its journey as a small school in Farashganj, Dhaka. Later, in 1926, it became a full-fledged college and in 1927, it was named 'Eden Intermediate College'. Spread over about 12 acres of land in the Azimpur area, this college has become a beacon of higher education for thousands of women over time. In recent years, various initiatives have been taken to develop the college's infrastructure and maintain a healthy environment on the campus, which is making students more focused on their studies. Currently, this college, run under the National University, offers classes in various subjects from higher secondary to undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Honors and Masters courses are offered in more than 20 subjects including Bengali, English, Economics, Sociology, Political Science. As part of modern teaching, there are multimedia classrooms, rich libraries and advanced laboratories for practical education. Beyond the textbooks, regular debate competitions, cultural programs and various club activities are conducted here to develop the creativity of the students, which make them skilled for their careers. The glorious tradition of Eden Women's College is associated with the names of many great women. Many personalities inspired by the ideals of Begum Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain, a prominent educationist and social reformer of the subcontinent, were associated with this institution. In addition, the active participation of the students of this college in the independence struggle and language movement of Bangladesh is written in golden letters in the pages of history. Even today, this college is not just an educational institution, but has become an inseparable symbol of women's awakening and empowerment.
