About the Institute
Islamic University, Kushtia is a unique institution of higher education in Bangladesh. This university was established on 22 November 1979 on 175 acres of land in the Shantidanga-Dulalpur area between Kushtia and Jhenaidah districts. It is the first government university in the country where Islamic education is taught in combination with modern knowledge and science. The natural beauty of the campus, the vast central Shaheed Minar, Mrityunjayi murals and the magnificent central mosque and library building fascinate visitors.
Currently, the university is offering undergraduate and postgraduate courses in 36 departments under 8 faculties. A modern and up-to-date curriculum is followed here in the semester system, where special emphasis is given to research-based education. The university has a rich central library and modern laboratory facilities for conducting academic activities. In addition, there are various halls and cultural organizations for student accommodation and co-curricular activities.
The distance of the university from Kushtia city is about 24 kilometers and from Jhenaidah city is about 22 kilometers. Being located next to the Kushtia-Jhenaidah highway, it is very easy to travel here by bus, train or own transport. There are many talented people among the alumni of this institution, who are making important contributions in their respective fields in the country and abroad. All in all, the Islamic University is working tirelessly to improve the quality of higher education in the country through its education and tradition.
