About the Institute
Jessore University of Science and Technology (JUST) is one of the leading public universities in Bangladesh established in 2007. It is serving as a milestone in the expansion of higher education in the southwestern region. Located about 10 kilometers from Jessore city, this university is spread over about 35 acres of land. Its beautiful campus, modern architectural buildings and orderly environment create a unique learning environment for students. The central Shaheed Minar, murals of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Sheikh Hasina and the beautiful lake inside the campus are the main tourist attractions here.
Currently, the university is following a modern and up-to-date education system. There are numerous departments under the faculties of Engineering, Science, Biology, Health Sciences, Arts and Social Sciences. Each department has state-of-the-art laboratories and research facilities to emphasize hands-on learning. In addition, international quality teaching is being ensured to students through the semester system and credit hour system. During the Corona period, the Genome Center of JNU has been widely praised at the national level as the first-class lab in the country.
There is an easy and affordable transportation system to travel to JNU from the heart of Jessore city. The campus can be easily reached from different parts of the city by bus, auto-rickshaw or own transport. It is worth noting that the distance from Kurigram to JNU is quite long, more than 450 kilometers. Although there is no direct train from Kurigram, you have to reach the campus by road or train via Jessore. Despite this long journey, talented students from different parts of the country come here with the dream of higher education.
The academic excellence and quality of research of this university are increasing day by day. Although it is a young university, the research papers of its teachers and students are regularly published in international journals. Many renowned academicians and researchers, including the Vice-Chancellor of the university, are teaching here, who are renowned in their respective fields. Overall, JNU has established itself as a shining star on the map of higher education in Bangladesh through its education, research, and aesthetic environment.
