About the Institute
Qawmi Madrasa refers to independent, non-governmental Islamic educational institutions run according to the Deobandi ideology.
This educational movement originated in 1866 with the establishment of 'Darul Uloom Deoband' in Deoband, Saharanpur district, Uttar Pradesh, India. In Bangladesh, this movement began in 1901 with the founding of Darul Uloom Hathazari.

- Board & Recognition
- The highest authority for Qawmi Madrasas in Bangladesh is Al-Haiatul Ulya Lil-Jamiatil Qawmia Bangladesh. In 2018, the government recognized the highest Qawmi degree, 'Dawraye Hadith', as equivalent to a Master's degree in Islamic Studies and Arabic.
- Total Number
- There are currently more than 19,199 Qawmi Madrasas across Bangladesh.
