Kurigram Agricultural Univeristy (KAU)

Kurigram Agricultural University is a new and promising higher education institution in Bangladesh. In the wake of long-standing demands, its formal journey began in 2022 with the passing of the ‘Kurigram Agricultural University Act’ in the National Parliament. Located in the Dharla River basin of Kurigram Sadar Upazila, this university has opened new horizons in agriculture-based economy and research in North Bengal. Currently, the work of infrastructural development of the university’s own permanent campus is underway, which will develop into a modern and environmentally friendly education city in the future. Currently, the academic activities of the university are being conducted in a temporary campus. Students are being taught here with a combination of modern curriculum and practical education under the Faculty of Agriculture. Special emphasis is being given to hands-on education under the supervision of skilled teachers and researchers, so that students are able to face the challenges of the fourth industrial revolution. In addition, there are plans to conduct various research activities here on the development of local agricultural products and the use of modern technology. The distance between the university and the main city of Kurigram is only a few kilometers, which is very convenient for transportation. The campus can be easily reached from any part of the city by auto-rickshaw or private transport. Due to its geographical location, it has become the new center of education and culture of Kurigram. Although it is a new institution, the university is moving forward rapidly with the direct and indirect support of the talented children and eminent educationists of Kurigram. It is expected to emerge as one of the best agricultural research institutes of the country in the near future.
