About the Institute
Patuakhali University of Science and Technology (PUST) is a beacon of higher education in South Bengal. The foundation stone was laid by the then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on July 8, 2000, and it started its journey as a full-fledged university on July 8, 2001. Located in Dumki Upazila of Patuakhali district, this campus is spread over about 90 acres of land. Its geographical location is very picturesque, where a wonderful combination of greenery and natural beauty can be seen. The huge lake, central Shaheed Minar, Bangabandhu mural and well-decorated gardens inside the campus fascinate visitors.
Currently, the university is conducting modern and up-to-date educational programs in the semester system. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses under various faculties including agriculture, fisheries, disaster management, business administration, and computer science. It has become known as one of the best agricultural and technological universities in the country due to its special emphasis on research-based education. Students are getting hands-on learning opportunities through skilled teachers and advanced laboratory facilities.
The distance of this university from Patuakhali district town is about 15 kilometers. The campus can be easily reached from the district town by bus, auto rickshaw or CNG. Since the transportation system is quite developed, students can travel without any problems. Although the name of any famous person is not directly associated with this institution, many of its alumni are currently bringing fame to the country as high-ranking officials, researchers and scientists in the country and abroad. All in all, Pavipravi is a unique center of education and research in South Bengal.
