About the Institute
Roumari High School is a traditional educational institution located in the heart of Roumari Upazila of Kurigram district. The school was established in 1954 with the dedicated efforts of local educationists and social workers. Located near Roumari Bazar, this school is spread over about 4 acres of land. Its geographical location is very excellent, which ensures a calm and pleasant environment for the students to study. The school premises have a spacious playground, well-groomed gardens and some ancient trees, which have increased the beauty of the institution many times over.
Currently, the school is conducting teaching activities in a modern and creative manner. Students are taught through multimedia classrooms and digital labs under the supervision of experienced teachers. Along with academic activities, special emphasis is given to co-curricular activities, such as debate competitions, scouting and annual sports and cultural programs. The school library has a rich collection of books, which helps the students to acquire knowledge.
The distance from Kurigram district headquarters to Roumari upazila is about 60 kilometers. Road is the main means of transportation. From Kurigram, you can reach Roumari by bus or your own transport, crossing the Brahmaputra River via Chilmari or directly by road. Although travel was once difficult due to geographical isolation, travel has now become much easier due to the improvement in the communication system.
This school has been playing a leading role in spreading the light of education in this region. Many students who have received education from here are working in high positions in the country and abroad. In particular, many talented people including the former member of parliament and prominent politician, the late Mozahar Hossain, are alumni of this school.
