Gregory's High School and College is one of the oldest and most traditional educational institutions located in Laxmi Bazar, Dhaka. It was founded in 1882 by Roman Catholic missionary Father Gregory de Groot. Initially, it started as a normal school, but over time it has become a beacon of quality education. Spread over an area of about a few acres, this campus has buildings built in the style of historical architecture and spacious playgrounds. Over the long journey, the institution has witnessed many changes, the latest addition of which is the inclusion of a higher secondary level or college branch here. Recently, various initiatives have been taken to develop the infrastructure of this institution and spread modern technology-based education, which has made it more attractive to the new generation. In terms of academic activities, St. Gregory's has always been known for strict discipline and quality teaching. Here, along with traditional classroom education, special importance is given to developing the creativity of students. The current teaching method is quite up-to-date with a combination of modern laboratories, rich libraries and multimedia classrooms. Not only the knowledge of the textbooks, but also the participation of the students of this institution in debates, scouting, science clubs and various cultural competitions as co-curricular activities is noteworthy. Due to the close supervision of the teachers and special attention to the students, the institution has maintained enviable success in public examinations every year. The names of many talented people who have made the country shine at the national and international levels are associated with this educational institution. In particular, the first President of Bangladesh and the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was an alumnus of this school. In addition, many famous politicians, economists, doctors and intellectuals of the country have spent a lot of their educational life here.
