About the Institute
Sylhet Agricultural University (SAU) is one of the specialized public universities of higher education in Bangladesh. Established in 2006, this institution is located in the Tilagarh area of Sylhet, covering an area of about 96 acres. Located in a beautiful natural environment surrounded by hills and dunes, this campus is known for its aesthetic beauty and green nature. The main gate of the university, the central Shaheed Minar, various faculty buildings and the administrative building located on the high dunes are among the tourist attractions here.
Currently, the university is teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in a modern and up-to-date manner under six faculties. With emphasis on hands-on education, there are opportunities for laboratory, field research and field-level research. The institution is working tirelessly to create skilled manpower in various subjects including agriculture, veterinary, fisheries and agricultural engineering. Modern classrooms and digital libraries provide special support to students in their research.
The distance of this university from Zindabazar or Bandarbazar, the heart of Sylhet city, is about 8-10 kilometers. The campus can be easily reached from any part of the city by rickshaw, CNG-powered auto-rickshaw or the university's own bus service. Being located next to the Sylhet-Tamabil highway, its communication system is very easy and convenient.
Many renowned teachers and researchers in the agriculture and livestock sector of the country are associated with this university. Many of its alumni are currently serving in various important positions in the government and private sectors of the country and are contributing to the agricultural revolution.
