Our beloved 'Thakurgaon Government College', located in the heart of Thakurgaon, is not just an educational institution, it is an inseparable address of our emotions and thousands of memories. Established in 1959, this college has been spreading the light of education in this northern town for more than six decades. Its green campus spread over a vast area in the heart of the city, old big trees and peaceful environment make any student's mind focused on studies. Every dust particle here is mixed with the footprints of many accomplished students, which fills me with a strange pride even today. As rich as the history of this college is, its achievements are also not less. Since its establishment, it has been playing a leading role in the expansion of education in Thakurgaon. Many of our students who studied from this college are engaged in serving the country as high-ranking officials, doctors, engineers and journalists. Especially during the Liberation War and later, the success of our college students in debates, sports and cultural competitions at the national level has always made us proud. Many renowned personalities of the country have grown up in the courtyard of this school, whose names we still bow our heads in utmost respect when we mention them. Currently, the college has a good system of studying in various subjects at the higher secondary as well as undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Modern classrooms, rich libraries and the sincere teaching methods of experienced teachers play a big role in the intellectual development of the students. The teachers here are not limited only to the boundaries of the textbooks, but always encourage the students to practice morality and creativity. Along with studies, co-curricular activities such as BNCC, Rover Scout and the activities of various cultural organizations always keep the campus alive. As an ex-student, whenever I enter the college gate, I feel like I have gone back to those old days. Even today, when I hear that a student of the college is doing well or winning a national competition, that old me inside me feels very happy. Thakurgaon Government College is not just a government institution, it is the pride of the people of Thakurgaon. I hope that this beloved school of ours will produce many more enlightened people in the days to come.
