About the Institute
Thakurgaon Government Women's College is one of the main beacons of women's education in Thakurgaon district. This college was established in 1969 with the dedicated efforts of local educationists and philanthropists. Located in the heart of Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila, this institution is spread over a few acres of land, which ensures a pleasant and peaceful environment for the students to study. The college was nationalized in 1984, which opened a new horizon in the expansion of women's education in the district. Recently, this college has been working tirelessly to maintain the standards of modern education through its infrastructural development and digital classroom activities.
In terms of academic activities, the college is conducting higher secondary, graduation (pass) and graduation (honors) courses in several subjects. There is a system of regular teaching and regular evaluation under the supervision of experienced and skilled teachers. Currently, teaching through multimedia projectors in line with information technology and modernization of library services have increased the interest of students in studies. In addition to textbooks, the participation of students in debate competitions, scouting and cultural practices as co-curricular activities is highly commendable.
The memories and contributions of many talented people are associated with this institution. In particular, the contribution of prominent educationists and philanthropists of Thakurgaon during the establishment of the college and its development is undeniable. The late Khademul Islam, a renowned politician and former member of parliament, played a special role in the development of the college. With the inspiration of him and many local prominent people, the college has today become a stronghold of women's education in the northern town. Currently, this college, which is bustling with the footsteps of thousands of students, has become an integral part in improving the quality of education and culture in Thakurgaon.
