University of Chittagong (CU)

Chittagong University (CU) is one of the leading and traditional higher education institutions in Bangladesh. Established in 1966, this university is located in Fatehpur Union of Hathazari Upazila of Chittagong. This campus, spread over an area of about 2,100 acres, surrounded by vast hills and natural beauty, is known as the largest campus in the country. The natural lake, botanical garden, Shaheed Minar and the picturesque environment built around the hills attract the attention of any visitor. The university's own shuttle train is one of the main attractions here, which is the main and popular means of transportation for students. Currently, the university is teaching in a modern and up-to-date manner. There are numerous departments and institutes under 10 faculties, where quality education is provided at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The distance from Kurigram district town to Chittagong University is about 500 kilometers. By road, one has to reach Chittagong city first by direct bus or train from Kurigram. Then, one can reach the campus by the university's shuttle train from Battali or Sholashahar station in Chittagong city. Renowned novelist of Bangladesh Humayun Ahmed, popular writer Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, prominent educationist and sociologist Dr. Anupam Sen and many former ministers and politicians were students of this university.
