About the Institute
University of Development Alternative (UDA) is a private university established in Dhanmondi, Dhaka in 2002. It started its journey to promote creative and alternative education outside of traditional education. Its campuses spread across different parts of Dhanmondi are known for their modern architectural style and aesthetic environment. The campus of the Faculty of Fine Arts in particular attracts the attention of visitors for its artistic atmosphere and various works of art.
Currently, UDA teaches in a semester system, where special emphasis is given to practical and research-based education along with theoretical education. The university offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in various subjects including fine arts, architecture, business administration, journalism and mass communication. Experienced faculty and modern lab facilities help students to become skilled.
This institution does not have any direct branch from the main city of Kurigram, but road and railway are the main means of transportation from Kurigram to Dhaka. From Kurigram, one can reach the main campus of Dhanmondi by bus or train from Dhaka. Students from different parts of the country come here for higher education.
Professor Mujibul Haque, a renowned painter and educationist of the country, is associated with UDA. In addition, at different times, eminent artists, journalists and intellectuals of the country have been associated with this university as guest teachers or advisors and have played a role in improving its academic standards. The university continues to maintain its own uniqueness in the practice of creativity and free thinking.
