About the Institute
Rajshahi University (RU) is one of the best higher education institutions in Bangladesh, established in 1953. Located in Motihar, Rajshahi, this campus is a vast green space of about 753 acres, which is appreciated across the country for its aesthetic architecture and natural beauty. Within the campus, there are places of interest like Shaheed Minar, Sabas Bangladesh Sculpture, Shaheed Smriti Sanghashala and Paris Road, which are helpful in developing the creativity and thinking of students.
Currently, the university is conducting modern and up-to-date teaching programs in the semester system. There are about 60 departments under 10 faculties, where special emphasis is given to research-based education at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. In addition, new knowledge is being created regularly in science, technology and humanities through various institutes and laboratories. Students here get the opportunity to achieve world-class education under the supervision of the country's renowned educationists and researchers.
The distance from Kurigram district town to Rajshahi University is about 350 kilometers. There is a direct bus service from Kurigram for commuting, and the campus can be easily reached by train via Syedpur or Santahar. Due to the improvement in the communication system, students can now travel quite comfortably.
Many eminent personalities have been associated with the glorious history of this university. Renowned novelist Hasan Azizul Haque, eminent educationist and writer Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, and National Professor Dr. Anisuzzaman, among others, were associated with this institution. Their talent and thinking have placed this university at a unique height in the national and international arena today.
