Adabor(Thana)

Adabor is a densely populated area located in the northwest of Mohammadpur Police Station in Dhaka metropolis.

Administratively, it is a police station under the Dhaka North City Corporation.

Geographically, it is bordered by Shyamoli and Mirpur to the north, Mohammadpur to the south, and Agargaon and Sher-e-Bangla Nagar to the east.

Once a low-lying, agriculture-dominated region, it has now transformed into a planned and densely populated residential area.

Areas like Shekhertek, Baitul Aman, Sunibir, and Nabodoy Housing form the core of Adabor.

The area has several markets for local residents to shop, among which Adabor Bazar and Shekhertek Bazar are notable.

Additionally, there are several educational institutions and mosques that serve as the heart of local community life.

Adabor is largely known for its well-organized residential environment.

Although there are no major tourist attractions, the roads running through the area and the open atmosphere of the various housing societies are comforting to the residents.

In recent years, Adabor has been at the center of discussions primarily due to various political and social changes.

In particular, following the 2024 mass uprising, several untoward incidents of violence and arson occurred in the area, which were highlighted in the media.

However, the area is currently trying to return to its normal rhythm.

While the names of veteran politicians and prominent figures are associated with Adabor, it is primarily known as a habitat for the middle class.
