Boalkhali Upazila is located under Chattogram District in Bangladesh, situated on the southern bank of the Karnaphuli River to the southwest of Chattogram district headquarters.
This upazila is known for the Kalurghat Bridge, the traditional Kadhurkhil High School, and as the birthplace of renowned politicians and litterateurs of the subcontinent.
