Bochaganj(Upazila)

Bochaganj is an important upazila of Dinajpur district, which is historically better known to the local and wider population as 'Setabganj'.

Situated on the banks of the Tangon River, this township is geographically located about 30 kilometers northwest of Dinajpur town.

Once a major hub of commerce, Setabganj Bazar still remains one of the largest and busiest markets in North Bengal.

Among the notable landmarks here is the historic Setabganj Sugar Mill, which preserves the heritage of this once industrially prosperous region.

Additionally, several old temples and structures from the Zamindar era, representing ancient architectural styles, are scattered throughout the area.

Bochaganj is also quite rich in cultural and political aspects.

The area has gained special prominence in the political arena as it was the ancestral home of the renowned politician and former minister, the late Abdur Rauf Chowdhury.

Recently, Bochaganj Upazila has seen the touch of modern communication systems and infrastructural development, which is making the region more economically dynamic.

In this agriculture-based region, along with rice and maize, various cash crops are extensively cultivated.
