
Boraibari Monument(Memorial plaque)
The 'Baraibari Memorial', located in Rowmari Upazila of Kurigram district, stands as a witness to a glorious history of the great Liberation War of 1971.
It is also locally known as the 'Baraibari Shaheed Minar' or 'Baraibari Killing Field Memorial'.
Geographically situated in Baraibari village of Rowmari Upazila, right along the Indian border, this place was one of the strongest bases for freedom fighters at that time.
It is approximately 60-65 kilometers away from Kurigram district town; one can easily reach here by local transport after arriving at the Rowmari Upazila headquarters by road.
This monument was built to commemorate the brave martyrs of the historic Battle of Baraibari, which took place on April 18, 2001, against the BSF.
It is an emotional and historical site for visitors, where tributes are paid every year on special occasions.
During this battle, the Rowmari region was a liberated zone where brave freedom fighters and members of the then BDR courageously defended the border.
