
Chilmari Union(Union)
Chilmari Union, located about 3 kilometers from the Chilmari Upazila headquarters in Kurigram district, is a settlement developed in the basin of the Brahmaputra River.
Although it is geographically prone to river erosion, its natural beauty and rural environment are unique.
It is about 30 kilometers away from Kurigram town, and can be reached by CNG or autorickshaw via road.
Notable tourist attractions in this union include the historic Chilmari Port, which was once famous for the jute and paddy trade, and the 'Gariyal Bhai' sculpture, built inspired by the famous folk song 'Oki Gariyal Bhai'.
The Chilmari port area is locally known simply as 'Bandar'.
This settlement gained worldwide recognition through the Bhawaiya songs sung by the renowned folk singer Abbasuddin.
Additionally, the Chilmari Ashtami Snan festival, held annually on the Brahmaputra River, is one of the major cultural and religious attractions of this region.
