CRB, or Central Railway Building area, was developed as the headquarters of the Assam Bengal Railway during the British period. The colonial-era red-brick railway building, the Railway's Polwell Park, and the surrounding hills and valleys are the main attractions of this region. Every year, the celebration of Pahela Baishakh, especially under the centuries-old Shirish Tola here, is known as the biggest cultural event in Chittagong.
Notable sights include the British-architectural CRB building, centuries-old diverse trees along the hill slopes, Polwell Park, and the CRB Shirish Tola. Very close to it are the historic railway station, Chittagong College, and JM Sen Hall.
CRB can be easily reached from any part of Chittagong city by rickshaw, CNG auto-rickshaw, or private transport. It is also accessible on foot from the New Market or Tigerpass intersection.
