The northern and eastern parts of Fatikchhari Upazila border the Tripura state of India and parts of Khagrachhari district. Nanupur and Bibirhat markets are known as important commercial centers in this region.
The Halda and Dhurung rivers flow through the upazila, playing an important role in its geography and agriculture. It also features a diversity of hilly terrain and plains.
There are several historical and religious establishments in this upazila, among which the shrine of Hazrat Aulia and various ancient mosques and temples are notable. Several resistance battles took place in this area during the Liberation War.
Notable educational institutions here include Fatikchhari Degree College, Nanupur Layla Kabir College, Jameul Ulum Madrasah and Bhujpur National School. Fatikchhari Upazila Health Complex provides medical services here.
Fatikchhari is easily accessible from Chattogram city by road using buses or CNG-operated auto-rickshaws. There is also rail communication up to Nazirhat.
