Bayezid Bostami is one of the primary spiritual centers in Chattogram. Although historical debates exist regarding whether the Sufi saint actually visited Chattogram, it has been known as a sacred gathering place for devotees and pilgrims for centuries. The hilly environment and ancient heritage of the shrine make it particularly significant.
The main attraction of this place is the turtles of rare species living in the pond on the northern side of the shrine, locally known as Bostami turtles. Scientifically, these are known as Black Softshell Turtles and are locally referred to as Bostami kachhap. As the shrine premises are situated on a hill, visitors can enjoy scenic views of the surrounding area from the site.
One can easily reach the Bayezid Bostami shrine premises directly by bus, CNG-driven auto-rickshaw, or rickshaw from any part of Chattogram. Transportation is convenient via road from the Shah Amanat International Airport or the railway station.
