Kamrangirchar(Thana)

Kamrangirchar is a densely populated area comprising wards 55, 56, and 57 of the Dhaka South City Corporation, resembling a peninsula surrounded by the Buriganga River on almost three sides.

Geographically, it is located at the southwestern edge of Dhaka city, adjacent to the Hazaribagh and Lalbagh areas to the north and west.

Once primarily an agricultural region, it has now transformed into a densely populated industrial and residential area.

Due to its location along the banks of the Buriganga, water transport plays a vital role in its connectivity.

Locally, it is also known as an area "nestled against Keraniganj."

One of the major landmarks of this area is the Kamrangirchar Central Jame Mosque, along with the scenic environment that has developed along the banks of the Buriganga River.

Although it is primarily a commercial and residential area, the wide roads and the touch of modern development have given the area a new look.

The area is currently an integral part of modern Dhaka city and is under various government development projects.

Among the notable personalities of Kamrangirchar is the renowned journalist and columnist Abed Khan, who is deeply associated with the social and cultural heritage of this area.
