Karnaphuli Upazila is an important upazila located on the southern bank of the Karnaphuli River from the headquarters of Chattogram District in Bangladesh, which was previously part of Patiya Upazila and later gained the status of a separate administrative upazila.
This region is particularly known for its port facilities along the Karnaphuli River, heavy industrial factories, and the main tunnel and bridge connecting to Chattogram city.

Karnaphuli Upazila has developed on the southern bank of the Karnaphuli River, featuring the Karnaphuli River and several chars and coastal areas as its primary water boundaries and natural characteristics, deeply connected to maritime and riverine commerce.
One of the country's major maritime and heavy industrial zones has developed in this area. Areas like Shikalbaha and Julda are known for industrial factories and power generation. There are also important markets and commercial centers along the riverbank that play a major role in the local economy.
In terms of transportation, one has to enter this upazila by road from Chattogram city by crossing the Karnaphuli River. The Shah Amanat Bridge built over the Karnaphuli River and the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel running beneath it directly connect this upazila with the main Chattogram city.
