Kishoreganj(Upazila)
Kishoreganj is one of the eight upazilas of Nilphamari district.
It is bordered by the West Bengal border of India to the north, Jaldhaka and Nilphamari Sadar to the south, Kaliganj of Lalmonirhat district to the east, and Nilphamari Sadar upazila to the west.
Geographically, it is situated in the basin of the Teesta and Buri Teesta rivers, making the land very fertile and agriculture-oriented.
Once known as 'Kishoreganj Thana', it was later upgraded to an upazila in 1984.
Among the major rivers here, the Teesta and Buri Teesta are notable, significantly influencing local agriculture and daily life.
Notable structures in the upazila include some ancient architectural remains located in the Putimari and Ranochandi areas.
Kishoreganj Sadar Bazar and Bahagili Bazar are well-known and crowded places for local shopping.
Among the tourist attractions, the area near the Teesta Barrage and the natural environment along the riverbanks attract travel enthusiasts.
Historically, this region is known for its agricultural revolution, especially the potatoes and maize produced here, which have gained nationwide fame.
In recent times, modern irrigation systems and agricultural technologies have expanded in this upazila, further dynamizing the local economy.
Additionally, the area is also known as the birthplace of renowned politicians and distinguished personalities.
