Pirgacha(Upazila)

Pirgachha is an important upazila of Rangpur district, a prosperous region geographically formed by the alluvial soil washed by the Teesta River.

Surrounded by Kaunia to the north, Sundarganj to the south, the Teesta River to the east, and Rangpur Sadar and Mithapukur upazilas to the west, this area is known for its agriculture-based economy.

It is popularly believed that the name Pirgachha is derived from the name of the renowned Sufi saint, Shah Pir Shah.
