Ruhia(Upazila)

Ruhea is an important administrative and commercial area in the Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila.

It is primarily known as Ruhea Thana and is geographically situated on the banks of the Tangon River.

Due to its fertile alluvial soil and flat terrain, the region is well-known for its agriculture, producing bumper crops of rice, wheat, and maize.

Ruhea has now developed into one of the key business hubs of the Thakurgaon district, boasting excellent rail and road connectivity.

One of the main attractions of this area is the historic Ruhea Railway Station and the traditional local Ruhea Bazar, which remains bustling with thousands of people every day.

Among the spiritual and tourist sites, the old mosques and temples here are quite well-known.

Furthermore, although there is no direct association with the famous litterateur and educationist Dr.

Muhammad Shahidullah, the Ruhea area is highly regarded for its unique cultural identity and communal harmony.

Recently, the demand among locals to upgrade Ruhea into a full-fledged Upazila has become quite strong, making it a significant topic of discussion regarding the region's development and administrative decentralization.
