Flowing through Satkania Upazila, the Sangu River plays an important role in the economy and transportation of this region. During the monsoon season, parts of this riverine area get flooded, and its banks feature fertile agricultural lands. Keranihat, Satkania Sadar, and Bullardhepa are among the major commercial centers and busy markets of this region.
There are several historical and religious establishments in this area. This region also has a special contribution to the history of the anti-British movement and the Liberation War of 1971. Notable educational institutions here include Satkania Government College, Satkania Ideal High School, and various madrasas.
The main mode of transport to Satkania is by road. It can be easily accessed via Keranihat on the Chattogram-Cox's Bazar Highway. Additionally, traveling to this upazila is possible by rail via the Dohazari Railway Station.
