The Sitakunda Municipality area is a very important commercial and economic hub situated alongside the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway. It features the Sitakunda Bazar, bus stand area, and various commercial shopping centers that bustle with thousands of people every day. Due to its location beside the Dhaka-Chattogram railway, it holds special significance for communication and trade.

On the eastern border of this municipality lies the world-famous and ancient pilgrimage site, Chandranath Hill, atop which the Chandranath Temple is situated. Every year during the Shiv Chaturdashi fair, hundreds of thousands of pilgrims and tourists gather here. Besides, there are several ancient ponds, dighis, and religious structures in and around the municipality.

Well-known educational institutions such as Sitakunda Government College, Sitakunda Adarsha High School, Sitakunda Girls' High School, and Sitakunda Degree College are located in this area. For healthcare, the Sitakunda Upazila Health Complex and several private clinics and hospitals operate here.

Sitakunda Municipality is easily accessible by road via buses or private cars and by rail from both Dhaka and Chattogram. The Dhaka-Chattogram Highway and railway form the backbone of this municipality's transportation system.
