
Sonahat Land Port(Land port)
'Sonahat Land Port', located in Bangasonahat Union of Bhurungamari Upazila in Kurigram district, is one of the most important commercial gateways of Bangladesh.
Locally, it is also known as 'Sonahat Border'.
It is approximately 45 kilometers away from Kurigram district town and can be reached by bus or private vehicle via road.
Geographically, it is situated near the India-Bangladesh border, serving as a major hub for the import and export of goods between the two countries.
In terms of historical significance, this place is very rich, as it features a massive and aesthetically pleasing railway bridge built during the British era, which is currently a major tourist attraction.
Furthermore, during the Great Liberation War, this area was under Sector 11, and it holds many sites associated with the memories of brave freedom fighters.
The port area is currently being equipped with modern infrastructure, which is playing a significant role in the local economy.
