It is primarily known as a quiet and natural sea beach situated near the confluence of the Karnaphuli River and close to the Halda River along the Bay of Bengal.

In this beach area, visitors can mainly enjoy the open waters of the Bay of Bengal, the movement of fishermen's trawlers, and coastal scenery. The surrounding area features the rural settlements and small markets of Jahornagar and Kattali.
South Kattali Sea Beach can be easily reached from Chattogram city center via Akbarshah or Saraipara using rickshaws, auto-rickshaws, or private transport.
