Thanahat Union(Union)

Thanahat Union is an important administrative area of Chilmari Upazila in Kurigram district.

Located in the basin of the Brahmaputra River, this region is geographically characterized by river erosion and fertile alluvial soil.

It is situated about 5-6 kilometers from the Chilmari Upazila headquarters, and can be easily reached by road via rickshaw, auto-rickshaw, or CNG.

Although locally known as 'Thanahat', it is historically renowned as one of the oldest commercial centers of Chilmari.

The main landmark and heritage site of this union is the Chilmari Port, which was once famous across the country for its jute and river trade.
