Uria Union(Union)

Odia Union is an important administrative area of Fulchhari Upazila of Gaibandha district.

This area, which is developed along the banks of the Brahmaputra River, is mainly known as an erosion-prone and agricultural area.

Due to its geographical location, most of the people here depend on agriculture, where paddy, jute and various types of vegetables are produced in large quantities.

Although this area surrounded by chars is surrounded by natural beauty, its map has been repeatedly changed due to the erosion of the river.

Locally, it is sometimes called 'Odia Char' or a riverside town.

Notable establishments of Odia Union include various government primary schools, secondary schools and religious places of worship or mosques, which are the center of local public life.

The lifestyle of the residents here is very simple and they are mainly the bearers of rural culture.

Although there is no major architectural attraction in this area, the vast waters of the Brahmaputra River and the picturesque view of the vast char create additional attraction for travelers.

In recent times, work is underway to improve the communication system and expand education in this char area under various development projects of the government.

Although the contribution of the people of this region as famous personalities is recognized at the local level, there is not much information available at the national level to specifically mention the name of any specific person.

However, the indomitable spirit of the people here and the mentality of surviving by fighting against disasters have made Oriya Union a unique town in Fulchhari Upazila.
