
Zia pukur(Pond)
'Zia Pukur', located in the headquarters of Ulipur Upazila in Kurigram district, is also locally known as 'Boro Pukur'.
It is a historic and significant water body situated in the Ulipur.
Geographically, it is one of the major landmarks of the Ulipur municipal area, serving as a hub for recreation and daily commute for the locals.
It is approximately 15-16 kilometers away from Kurigram district town and can be easily reached by bus or CNG via road.
Various commercial establishments and residential areas have developed around the pond.
It is considered a public space by the locals, where people enjoy spending their leisure time.
The paved banks of the pond make it quite attractive to visitors.
Furthermore, as Ulipur Upazila is the birthplace of the renowned litterateur and journalist Santosh Gupta, the Zia Pukur area is also indirectly linked to the cultural heritage of this region.
Currently, there has been a long-standing demand from the locals to develop it into a more attractive tourist spot through renovation and beautification.
