About the Institute
BRAC University was established in 2001 by BRAC founder Sir Fazle Hasan Abed. Located in Merul Badda, Dhaka, the university is currently known for its modern and beautiful campus. Built on about 6 acres of land, the campus has a very modern architectural style, where the eco-friendly design and a spacious library create a unique environment for students. Among the attractions of the university are its state-of-the-art 'smart campus' infrastructure and architectural aesthetics, which have set a new standard in the field of higher education.
Currently, BRAC University is conducting teaching in a 'learner-centric' or student-centered manner. Special emphasis is given here on blended learning and hands-on research. The university is well-known for various international quality programs, such as engineering, business, architecture and social sciences. The distance from Kurigram to BRAC University is about 350 kilometers. To travel from Kurigram to Dhaka, one usually has to use road or air. From Kurigram, one can reach Dhaka by direct bus or by plane via Syedpur Airport. Then, it is possible to reach the campus located in Merul Badda using Dhaka's internal communication system.
One of the many distinguished personalities associated with this institution is Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, who is its founder. In addition, renowned educationists, researchers and intellectuals of the country have been associated with teaching and research here at different times. Internationally renowned economist Dr. Debapriya Bhattacharya and many other eminent persons have played an important role in the academic and administrative development of this institution.
