Agrabad is one of the busiest and most important commercial nerve centers of Chattogram city. The commercial significance of this region began to grow during the British colonial period, and after independence, it gradually transformed into one of the country's primary economic centers. Head offices and regional branches of the nation's leading banks, insurance companies, multinational corporations, stock exchanges, and import-export firms are situated here.
Notable structures within this area include the World Trade Center Chattogram and Commerce College Road. Adjacent to this zone are the Chattogram Custom House and the Chattogram Port Authority building, which play vital roles in the national economy. Among the prominent educational institutions nearby, Government Commerce College and Premier University are well known.
