Chilmari River Port(River port)
Chilmari River Port, located on the banks of the Brahmaputra River about 30 kilometers from Kurigram district headquarters, is historically very significant.
Although locally known as 'Chilmari Port', it was also called 'Zamindarhat' during the British era.
Geographically known as a river port, it is currently primarily a ferry terminal and a hub for boat transportation.
It takes about an hour to reach here from Kurigram town by bus or CNG via road.
The main attraction of this port is the vast expanse of the Brahmaputra River and the numerous sandbars (chars) that have emerged within it, which fascinate tourists.
This region, associated with the memories of Abbasuddin Ahmed, the composer of the famous folk song 'Oki Gariyal Bhai', is rich in cultural heritage.
Currently, the operation of ferries on the Chilmari-Roumari route has opened new horizons for travel and trade.
Every year during the monsoon season, the appearance of the river port and its surrounding natural scenery turn it into a unique destination for visitors.
