Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport is the primary and largest international airport of the country, located in Kurmitola, Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh.
It is mainly known as the main hub for international air communication of the country and plays a vital role in the national economy and tourism.

This airport was inaugurated in 1981 by the then President Ziaur Rahman. Initially, it was known as Zia International Airport, and later in 2010, it was renamed Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. It is the main gateway for air communication in Bangladesh, with regular flights operating from here to domestic destinations and major cities around the world.
Inside the airport, there are various facilities for passengers, including international-standard lounges, duty-free shops, restaurants, and banking services. Notable areas surrounding the airport include the Uttara residential area and Khilkhet. The Dhaka-Mymensingh highway runs right past it.
One can easily commute to this airport from any part of Dhaka city by bus, taxi, or ride-sharing services. Additionally, with the operation of the metro rail from Uttara to Motijheel, it is also possible to reach Diabari in Uttara by metro and easily travel to the airport by road from there.
